As already noted on the Heero and Duo page, when it came to Gundam Wing, the creators of the series focussed on the political plotline, deliberately leaving romantic involvements vague. Their goal was to attract yaoi afficianados and, if the available fanfic is any guide, they certainly achieved their goal.

While Heero and Duo (1x2) are the most popular pairing from the Gundam Wing series, Trowa and Quatre (3x4) have their share of the fandom. But their bond didn't orginate in the fertile minds of fanfic writers. Anyone who's seen the series can't fail to have noticed the affection between these two pilots. It's only the degree and depth of that affection that is left to our imaginations. Personally, I think Trowa and Quatre are perfect for each other.

NEWS FLASH: Houston We Have Confirmation
During Anime Detour (2005), voice actor Greg Ayres confirmed what a lot of GW fans have suspected all along. In the course of a panel discussion about the problematic nature of fandoms with no canon pairings, which obviously includes the GW fandom, Ayres recounted the story of how the director of Gundam Wing confirmed a canonical yaoi pairing within the series. Since this is being mentioned on the Trowa and Quatre page, it's not hard to guess which pairing he meant. Whilst being interviewed, the director was asked a question in relation to the subtext and randomness within the series. Apparently, he left aside the matter of subtext, but did admit that the seemingly random musical duets played by Trowa and Quatre were actually a euphemism, and the boys were indeed making sweet music - in the bedroom. So 3x4 fans, drag out the DVDs and video tapes, and keep an eye out for those musical interludes!
