This is another series I couldn't make up my mind about for some time. One of the big reasons I dithered for so long was the plotline where (and I don't think this is spoiler material at all) Alucard makes Seras Victoria a vampire. It was this exact plotline that made me stop watching Night Walker. But there was something about Hellsing that made me think it wasn't going to tread the weary (read: boring) path that Night Walker seemed determined to take.
Armed with that belief, and convinced by some excellent AMVs that it was worth it, I decided to give Hellsing a try. I bought the 4-disc box-set and I'm so glad I did. I love this series.
I can't explain why Alucard is so damned sexy, I just know that he is. Maybe it's the whole powerful and immortal dead-guy aura - who knows, who even cares? The important thing is that, whatever it is, it works extremely well.
I rather liked Integra for a while, but eventually her attitude towards others began to grate on me a little. The surprise was Seras Victoria, who I quite liked. And, come on, I can't be the only one who thought Jan Valentine rocked mightily. Yeah, I know he's one of the bad guys, but he was funny (potty-mouthed, but funny!).
I've seen all 13 episodes of the anime and, personally, the ending of the series left me confused. I suspect I'm not alone there. From what I've read, they're in the process of producing another series, and this one will stick closer to the manga storyline.
So, bottom line: If you like your anime with a supernatural bent; if you like a bit of horror; if you don't mind a bit of blood and gore, and a lot of swearing from some of the characters; and if you like your undead oozing sex appeal, you'll love Hellsing.

Yep, there's yaoi. When is there not? Alucard is most often paired with Paladin Anderson or Walter Dornez and the best news is that you can find some very well written fan fiction out there for this title.
