NAME: Aya/Ran Fujimiya
CODE NAME: Abyssinian
SERIES: Weiß Kreuz
NOTES:
Anime - Manga
This guy is definitely not a party boy. He's obsessed with revenge and pursues it with a single-mindedness that excludes all else. Aya allows nothing and no one to stand in the way of his driving need to seek revenge against those who've wronged him and his family.
Aya and his back-story get a fair amount of air time but this comes as no real surprise, since Weiß Kreuz was the brainchild of his seiyuu, Koyasu Takehito.
The flashbacks covering events that lead to his oath of revenge give us a chance to see a completely different Aya. Instead of the cool, emotionless assassin, we see him as a normal teenaged boy who loves his family and seems happy with his life.
Personally, even though I understand why Aya is the way he is, I'd still take Yohji over him any day. Grim determination on the level Aya practices it can wear thin pretty quickly, no matter how good-looking you are.
Yaoi
Aya, like all the WK guys, is popular with writers of the yaoi genre. He also appears to be a favourite whipping-boy (yes, you can take that literally) of the fanficcers. In yaoi-dom, Aya is often paired with anyone who might dominate, use and abuse him. The reasoning behind this phenomenon still eludes me. He is also popularly paired with (the not so abusive) Yohji.
